There's Always Something New To Be Found
I had a friend visiting me recently for over a week. During the course of her trip, I took her to all of the best spots in South Carolina: Greenville, Pawleys Island/Litchfield, and Charleston. Yesterday, for her last day in town, I wanted to take her to the Blue Ridge Mountains. I meant to go to Ceasar's Head and Table Rock, but we ended up in Jones Gap. Once there, we went on an uphill hike to see Rainbow Falls. I had never done the hike before, but it was completely worth it. The falls are gorgeous and even though they aren't nearly as tall as Raven Cliff Falls, it was wonderful to get up close to them and relax after the hike with the mist of the falls spraying us. If you live in the area, you should definitely try it.

Long Live Love
It's my parents' anniversary today so i thought I'd post a photograph that was a bit cliche. I took this in Yellowstone one October on the walkway by Grand Prismatic. It was an amazing place to walk through and I believe this photograph shows some of the spring's mystic qualities.

A Little Different
This is a little bit different view of a petal. I took this photograph in high school when I was supposed to be studying for my final exams. The petals and confetti on our table distracted me and I ended up taking this photo.

Shine
It's raining like cats and dogs today, so I tried to find an image that contained at least a bit of sunlight. I picked this one because I like the glow that the sun gives this bloom (on a rhododendron bush), it perfectly brings out the color in the petals. I guess Mother Nature knows what she's doing.

Maasai Smile
This is a portrait I took of a Maasai warrior while I was on a community service trip to Tanzania a few years ago (Putney). The only photoshop I did was putting a watermark on it. It was taken unplanned and unposed (we were all just sitting around talking) in the natural light of a Tanzanian sunset. Everytime I see this photo, his eyes and smile make me light up. Though it's been a while, Tanzania is always on my mind and a place that yearn to go back to.

Brookgreen Arches
This is a photograph taken at Brookgreen Gardens last summer. It is a spectacular place and I have been there to take photographs many times. This is one of the more subtle photographs I have taken there; it does not show the amazing statues, beautiful birds, or colorful flowers. It doesn't really say much about the character of Brookgreen at all, but I really like the shadows and multiple frames in this photograph. What do you think?

Music Is Soul
Unlike the other two photos I have posted, this one is from the beginning of my time at CC. It is actually from the first weekend of freshman year. I am not completely sure who is in the picture, but I just love the feeling that this photograph gives me. Even though we cannot see his face and there is no sound to go along with the picture, I can feel the beat and imagine the movement. Maybe it was because I was there (although, I can't say that I remember this moment so it must not have been that spectacular), but perhaps there is something more. I guess you can let me know what you think or feel.

Sand Dunes!
This is another photograph from my road trip home. This was taken in the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Although it's not well known outside of Colorado, it should be. These are not the sand dunes you see at the beach, these dunes are huge and at the base of a beautiful mountain range with a beautiful (yet chilly) river wrapping around them. The hike up to the top of the dunes is not an easy one (neither is the hike down), but the view is definitely worth it. I took this shot on our hike up to the top.

Royal Gorge Bridge
I took this image at the Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado. My mom and I drove home after finishing up my sophomore year at Colorado College. It's not the best picture I've ever taken, but it's a good one to start my blog with, considering I just got back home for the summer.
